This log will be inactive for a while, gentle visitors, and I’ve no idea how long a while may be.

This shot represents the crest of my summer hiking season. Taken from Sepulcher at 9600+ ft.
It takes me 4 1/2 hours to climb this, it ascends 3000 ft over 4 miles of moderate trail. I hike the Sepulcher trail for the variety and the view from the top, it pretty much tops my season here off. The rest is just wrappin` things up.

A friend of mine named John Dendy has been bringing in some folks to play, I caught part of this show this evening.

There is always that point in my seasonal breaks when I am all finished getting home and I turn around and start to leave, and given the rhythm of things it doesn’t feel wrong that the end of one is the beginning of the other – this is turn around day.
It has been a busy break as breaks go. It seemed at first to be full of a great many changes; but the more things change, the more they remain the same.
I’ll be returning to Yellowstone in under two weeks. This time it feels a bit like goin’ down to the crossroads
