Quote of the Day: (circa 1982 Stony J SSBN 634, venue: preparing to depart on patrol in the A Ocean) An Admiral enters the compartment with the CO in tow and spots a young gentleman of the rank of E-5 drawing quasi stamps on love letters to his wife, to be shared with same upon his return. “Quite the little philatelist you have here Captain!”, the Admiral observes, which earned him the all but immediate response from said young gentleman of, “You can’t call me that!” as he turned those of us also present for support, “he can’t call me that, I ain’t no creechture!” The CO’s face, a thing of beauty, said merely, “ as if “little” wasn’t enough.” Dear Admiral, blinking as he retreated, said no more.
Rarely have I seen a man in charge of so much stopped so surely in his tracks as this, but there are places even Admirals dare not go.
