Big Guy Candidate

Every year about this time the Rut begins here at Mammoth Hot Springs. The elk like the lawns around the hotel here, and the people, because the predators don’t, not to mention the new mowed lawns – desert for them I think.
The process begins with the selection of the breeding bull, normally selected by sparing, intimidation, and combat, down to one big guy. This fella here looks like a shoe-in for this year’s bull.
