Galadriel

I have always contended that names have lives of their own. Names always seem to convey an initial like or dislike, at least for me, by the way they sound when you here them; or the sound you assign them in your mind when you read them. You, by nature, attach meanings to them on the basis of that first impression; sometimes that is a mistake, sometimes not. Tolkien is my example when I argue the point. Names such as Gorgoroth and Mordor really do raise images in your mind at the very sound of them, and yes, they are close enough to murder and gore to give you a nudge in the right direction (or the wrong one); but still, thats all part of what a name is.
On the other side of the question with Tolkien`s names; are the names of the elves, men, dwarves, and wizards. The names he gives them not only create for you a character; they create a culture of relationships amongst differing races of characters. The most beautiful of them, the one that has always stood out from the rest of Tolkien`s rich fabric of sounds and sights and nuances, at least for me, is Galadriel. No other seems to compare.
